CALL FOR MANGA ARTISTS
General
Savant Books and Publications (SBAP) is seeking outstanding, highly experienced, independent manga artists. Traditionally our best manga artists have been caricaturists and fine fantasy artists who are at the start of their career or retired, and have a profound love of books, including manga ("comic books").
Job Description
Manga artists have six months to bring a selected Savant/Aignos manuscript to release as in "comic book" form. More specifically, this means four months to produce a storyboard, and upon approval a completed interior layup including illustrations and bubble text; two months to polish the laid up interior in association with the head of our manga section, and one month to actively assist in proofing, publicity, marketing and pre-sales. Hence, our manga artists are intimately involved not only in the production but also the publicity, marketing and sales of works "championed" by the manga artist. Savant/Aignos manga artists always have the final choice as to which Savant/Aignos works they take on.
Manga artists may be located anywhere in the world, but preference will be given first to Hawaii-based, second to USA based, and third to North American based manga artists.
In addition to the above, we are currently seeking an outstanding, highly experienced manga artist with supervisory and business experience to head up our manga division.
Compensation
This is an occasional, part-time independent contractor position with quarterly compensation based on an individual work contracted percentage of net quarterly sales for all works created by the manga artist that are brought to release. We pay manga artist royalties for the life of the Savant/Aignos-published manga version of the work, typically for a minimum seven and maximum of twenty-one years. We do not "cap" royalty payments, meaning there is no limit on the amount of royalty we pay, and manga artist royalties are paid even if the manga artist leaves Savant/Aignos before the published work is retired.

Our manga artists will work with some of the best authors and staff anywhere, and experience ongoing "on-the-job" training through working with a respected publishing company. As independent contractors, Savant/Aignos manga artists obtain and pay for their own personal benefits.
