SUBMITTING AUDIO-VIDEO FILES
(FOR A DVD)

A.  READ THESE SAVANT FAQs FIRST:

1. Savant Books and Publications (SBAP) will consider only previously unpublished, audio-video
content consisting of both a fully edited  AUDIO_TS (Dolby digital AC-3, PCm or DTS) and a  VIDEO_TS folder up to 4.6 gigabytes (GB) in combined total size in the form of a working DVD submitted together with a word processing document containing answers to the sixteen questions below as a single DVD Submission Package (DSP). SBAP does not accept or evaluate previously published DVDs, partial DSP's, or works-in-progress. SBAP produces, manufactures, publicizes, markets, distributes and sells standard single-sided, single-layer DVDs that contain no data or other executable files. SBAP creates full-color artwork for the disc face and a single, wrap-around, full-bleed, full-color DVD cover. DVDs are packaged and sold in standard DVD cases. We also produce, publicize, market and sell an Amazon "Video On Demand" version. We look for unique, professional quality, fully pre-production edited, enduring audio-video works of interest to discriminating Savant viewers.

2. SBAP is fee-free. Savant does not charge fees for copyright, UPC, bar codes, assembly, proofing, manufacturing, publicity (including listing on IMDb) or marketing. Likewise, SBAP does not issue advances on submitted works.

3. SBAP is a royalty-paying publisher. Savant will execute a written contract and pay a royalty on net title sales to one principal signatory ("principal"). It is the principal's responsibility to divide and disburse royalty payments to other members and pay any agent fees incurred prior to release. Savant audio-video media creators and developers retain full financial rights to any "spin-offs" such as subsequent audio CDs.

4. SBAP was created by and for audio-video media creators and developers. The principal and Savant staff will, together, progress the submitted work through final assembly, polishing, cover-design, proofing, publicity, marketing, sales and fulfillment. In return, we expect everyone involved in creation and development of the work to take a strong, proactive role in publicizing the DVD, as well as market and sell DVDs. This includes doing specified emailings (we tell you when and how), participating in chats, maintaining a public audio-video media creator/developer website with blog, doing public appearances and title release parties. If you don't plan to do the above, don't submit a DSP.

5. If contracted, the principal must provide a valid U. S. Social Security Number (SSN), U. S. Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) or U. S. Employer Identification Number. If you can't obtain one, we can't pay you royalties.

6. The contracted principal will be assigned a professional DVD Production Representative ("rep"). The principal and rep work together as a team at no expense to the principal to move the work to final "perfect," publishable form and format. This can take up to six months. If you are not willing to work with a professional DVD Production Rep, are not willing to accept make any changes to your project, or are not willing to adhere to Savant form and format, do not submit a DSP. Savant is NOT a self-publisher; do not submit a DSP if you are seeking self-publication "assistance."

7. SBAP provides a professional cover artist for disc-face and full wrap-around case cover design free-of-charge. In general, principals are discouraged from creating their own covers, though the Savant cover artist will take into consideration principal's suggestions.

8. Once approved and assembled, a proof is produced and sent to the principal for final approval, again, at no cost to the principal. This takes, on the average, one additional month. If you are not interested in carefully proofing your DVD, do not submit a DSP. Once approved, Savant will not make additional changes.

9. SBAP designs and provides for each principal/group a two-year, tailored, Publicity and Marketing (P&M) plan at no charge to the principal. P&M's commonly include press releases, YouTube teasers, title synopses and summaries, excerpts, DVD review copies, DVD release parties, radio/TV appearances, podcasts, world-wide distribution, and publicity recommendations at no charge to the principal.  Principals are expected to respect P&M recommendations and make every effort to follow them in order to better publicize and market their work. If this doesn not appeal to you, do not submit a DSP.

10. Manufacturing is done on-demand. SBAP does not require the principal to purchase any minimum number of DVDs. Instead, SBAP provides the principal with five complimentary publicity copies of the published work, and offers the principal the ability to purchase the work in lots of ten (10) DVDs at 50% off the Suggested Retail Price (SRP) for personal and consignment sales, appearances and DVD-signings. This special price includes book-rate shipping anywhere within the USA including Hawaii and Alaska.

11. SBAP works are published under the "Savant Media" label, and listed on and available for purchase at Savant Bookstores, Amazon.com, affiliated and feeder online book and DVD sales channels, as well as at interested independent book, music and audio-video media stores throughout the world.  SBAP DVDs are currently distributed worldwide through Savant Distribution, Amazon Extended Distribution, and numerous sub-distributors.

12.  SBAP is headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, and is a U. S. publisher.  Royalties are subject to the tax laws of the United States of America.
