People in the publishing business have well been aware for several years now that Barnes and Noble (B&N), the last of the huge bookstore chain dinosaurs, has been stumbling. Sometime ago, B&N announced that it was changing its emphasis from books to gifts, while struggling to keep it's 600+ "brick and mortar" bookstores in business. Honolulu, HI (1 June 2019) - IBPA Independent 37 (3): 9-13. May/June 2019 - Daniel S. David Shinsato is glad to be continuing with Savant, this time as an Editor (in addition to proofreader). He's a still the laid back guy who likes to read, serve at church, and hang out with his friends. He's recently engaged, and he and partner are planning to marry in December of this year. He's also taking the necessary steps to becoming a freelance direct response copywriter. "Party with the Party" at Savant Books and Publications' Afternoon Coffee at Cafe 2600

On Saturday, 25 September, Savant Books and Publications hosted a "Meet the Publisher" Afternoon Coffee at Cafe 2600 from 4 to 6 p.m. with over 20 local readers, writers, authors, editors, screenwriters, publicists and producers attending. It was a wonderful chance for everyone to meet, one-on-one and talk book publishing. The event was so successful, we've decided to make it a regular, approximately bi-weekly event, at least for the time being.
