"Secret World War II  Letters Found," screamed the headline in my mind.

I’d found letters in the home I grew up in, so where could they have been hiding these past 80 years?  And, why did my dad choose to reveal them to me, just a month before his death, and after all those lonely years since hers?  Though questions like these were never answered, this shoebox full of love letters to my mom took me on a journey into the past: the past of my parents and their love affair via letters, and the war in which my father was part of the Greatest Generation. Another question which has often plagued me is what my dad would think of his thoughts and dreams during those difficult times, now in a book?
