As a young adult, E. M. Duesel thoroughly enjoyed acting and dancing, and had the great fortune of being on stage for about six years. During those years, she learned character development and definition. This later became very useful in her writing. With her career as a sociologist, she has been able to combine real life experiences with research into informative and relevant stories, churning personalities she has met along the way into characters with deeply meaningful connections to the narrative.

Her writing goals are to make storytelling so engaging that her readers find themselves immersed in social issues that are not readily seen by an untrained observer. Her next book will address homelessness; she is currently investigating children labeled with personality disorders, digging into their and others' intense feelings at how such children are perceived in today's society.
