My passion for writing began after a typical small town boyhood in Kokomo, Indiana. Paper routes, basketball, teen dances and too many greasy French fries were followed by a BA degree at Wabash College, a small liberal arts college for men just down the road from Purdue. As an English major, I contributed cartoons and satiric articles for the humor magazine and short stories for the more serious literary publication.

After graduation and a summer adventure selling Bibles from door to door in New Orleans, Uncle Sam provided me with room and board for the next three and a half years. Most of this time was spent fighting the Cold War with a gun and a dog on the East/West German border.  Thanks to the GI Bill, I enjoyed a post army vacation at the Free University in Berlin until I decided that it was time to get serious about my life. This meant getting a job, which I did as a financial advisor with a major investment firm in Chicago, where I am now a First Vice President. Between phone calls to clients, I announced and wrote the first market reports on TV before moving on to radio for many years.

Although show biz was both profitable and fun, a bigger high came with checks from publishers and producers who took a chance on my short stories, novels and screenplays.  My recent novel, THE LAZARUS CONSPIRACIES (Savant 2015), was an adaptation from a screenplay that was a top ten finalist in an Illinois/Chicago Screenwriting Competition. The novel, a mystery/thriller, received several rave reviews, including one by The Huffington Post, and a major award in fiction at the 2015 Pacific Rim Book Festival in Hollywood. The publisher, Savant Books and Publications, has just released my latest novel, THE GUMSHOE (Savant 2017), another mystery/thriller set in Chicago but this one circa 1947. It involves a private investigator who takes on corrupt politicians, vicious mobsters and a trigger-happy Texan femme fatale to prove that the “suicide” of his best friend was murder.

The passion continues. I am now writing "Retribution", a sequel to THE LAZARUS CONSPIRACIES, and thinking ahead to one for GUMSHOE. When I can pry my fingers off my computer keyboard, I find time to bike, swim, do gym workouts, read and watch vintage movies from my ever expanding collection. I am enjoying my busy life with my gorgeous wife, Kay, my true love and most ardent cheerleader for my writing. Although she has her own business of women’s clothes and accessories, keeping me healthy is her priority. No more greasy French fries.
